Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
